Table Scraps: Catching Up

Look at these nerds, chillin’ in an apartment building planter like it’s their own.

I woke up this morning thinking about how I was so tired of hating my body, how at my funeral, no one is going to mention how I gained or lost a certain amount of weight, if I exercised every day, if I was fat or thin. And I was getting ready to write an elegantly written social status update on this, composing as I got out of bed and started to straighten the sheets – when Little Coconut sharted. On my comforter.

The funny thing about having pets, or babies, or taking care of any other mammal or animal, or being human is that … you’re probably gonna have to deal with poop. A lot of it. So much of our lives are surrounded by it and having dogs – like I pick up poop every day. Do you ever stop and think about this madness? We are all crazy people, picking up poop from our dogs, our cats, our babies; why don’t we have constant pinkeye!? (I know, I know, I wash my hands, I’m just marveling at how many people do NOT – esp during a pandemic – and probably they should have pinkeye).

On that note, I’ve been thinking about some other things too. Like this adorable dog who gifts his mama every time she comes home (you can look a gift pup in the mouth because they’re so cute). Or how Cornell’s vet school is expanding their blood bank, and instead of a cookie, donating puppers get a can of chicken. This coffee company, Grounds & Hounds, is helping rescues, one cup of coffee at a time. Did y’all catch the Westminster Dog Show in June? If not, The New York Times has amazing pics of it.

More to come! Gettin’ back in the saddle. Or rather, back on the leash?
