Table Scraps: Kitty & the Car Sick

Well, it’s Kitty’s gotcha day (yay! Four years today!) and we’re heading off to Westport for the weekend. Westport is on the Pacific ocean, Washington coast, and it’s the first trip I will take in 2020. Not that I’m a regular jet-setter but normally, I would at least go somewhere during the summer. And that somewhere is like, Portland or Westport, honestly.

So, tomorrow we’re headed out, with both dogs in the backseat. This is where it gets gnarly. Kitty has been better in the car with Little Coconut, but she gets motion sickness and throws up all over the backseat. And you can tell she’s miserable! Panting and salivating and uncomfortable. We’ve tried CBD and prescription motion sickness medicine and nothing works. Except Little Coconut. So here goes nothin!

This week, I discovered a woman in West Seattle leading the charge against wayward dog poop - it’s a big problem here that people just leave dog poop without picking it up, and she’s determined to do something about it which I think is very cool! Australia’s RSPCA is getting the word out about October 26th, Cupcake Day, which is a bake sale to fundraise for rescue organizations, benefiting homeless pets (maybe we should do that in the states?). While we all have been wearing masks to protect ourselves and our neighbors, what do our dogs think? Turns out, they’re unfazed by masks - Patricia McConnell dives deep to figure out why. And finally, you’ve probably seen beer for dogs before (it’s usually just broth), well Busch is getting in on the action with $1 of every sale of a case of Dog Brew being donated to the Best Friends Society.

See you later, alligators! Stay safe, stay sane.
