Table Scraps: To Raw or Not to Raw?

After interviewing Maev, I got to thinking - should I switch my dogs’ food to raw? We have constant stomach issues and no known allergies. Kitty has a very sensitive stomach and now Little Coconut seems to be following suit. Today Maev sent out an email discussing how kibble doesn’t just expire, it goes rancid. The least of the problems with rotten kibble is that the nutrients and fats evaporate so your dog gets less nutrition. The worst? Upset stomach, even cancer. I haven’t been keeping the girls’ kibble in airtight containers and I buy kibble in such big bulk, it lasts months.

Months!

So today is the end of all that. I think it’s time to switch. We do a scoop of kibble and Wellness shredded chicken, salmon, and pumpkin as a wet food topper. Obviously this part is over; it’s not working for them or their little bodies.

Have you tried raw? What about fresh, like NomNom? The idea of less poop would be great; my life is sandwiched between these two having different instances of diarrhea and constipation. I’m taking Little Coconut to the vet early in the morning because she’s been suffering from some major GI issues. I hope it’s not an obstruction.

Otherwise, what are you reading? Did you hear about Germany’s new law that dog parents have to walk their dogs twice a day? Wish us luck tomorrow!
